Can we come to see the deceased in your Chapel of Rest?

We accept that being able to view the body can be a very important part of the grieving process. But preparation and dressing of deceased persons for viewing can require widely varying amounts of time and resources. So, to maintain overall low costs for our Simple Cremation package, the inclusive charge only allows for one single visit to the view the body. Any further visits would incur a small additional charge.

Can I hold any form of service or ceremony?

Yes, once the cremation itself has taken place. The idea of Simple Cremation is that the urn or casket containing the ashes can be used as a focus at a later ceremony or gathering in the same way the coffin would otherwise have been. Alternatively, the scattering or burial of the ashes can be completely separate from any ceremony or gathering. That is entirely your choice.

Why is this so much less expensive than a conventional funeral?

Comprehensive funeral arrangements can be very time & labour-intensive and they have to be scheduled around many different parties' availability. However, Simple Cremations can be fitted in around our usual working duties. There are also considerably less third party fees incurred.

How soon are the ashes available?

The ashes will then normally be available for collection from the crematorium 24 hours after the cremation, or our office two days after the cremation. If we are delivering the ashes to you then that will normally take place within 5 working days after the cremation.

How do I make payment?

The total cost of this service, which includes doctor's fees and crematorium fees, is payable before the service can be provided. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, credit/debit card, bankers' draft or bank transfer.

Will you accept payment by the DWP (Social Fund)?

To maintain the low cost of this service package, we require payment in full at the time of arranging a Simple Cremation. However, as the DWP requires a funeral account to process a funeral payment claim anyway, you can still make a claim after the cremation has taken place. The items provided within the Simply Cremation package are all classified as allowable under a DWP funeral payment claim.
